I recently read an article about large snails in Florida. Are we likely to get them on the East Coast?
Fortunately, no. They have to have a warm environment to survive. A hard New England winter will certainly kill them – even if they enjoyed a hot humid summer. We already have enough new invasive species such as Brown Marmorated Stink Bug and Asian Long Horn Beetle and there are others waiting to be confirmed. So don’t worry about them. Incidentally if you come across them anywhere, don’t handle them as they have a toxic slime. Wash your hands if you touch them.
