An invasion of lady bugs…

Question:

I had an invasion of lady bugs last year and I do not want to get them again in the house, I know that they do the plants a lot of good, but when you get several hundred of them I find this too much to cope with. Can I do something now to avoid a reoccurrence?

Answer:

It’s a little late in the year to stop them coming in. Once the days lengthen in the new year they will start to migrate into the warmer rooms of your home. They are currently over-wintering in the attic and siding.

Control is your best option; seal up any cracks and crevices that may allow them access. You can also save heating costs by doing just that. If you can’t do the work yourself or if you just need advice, call us.

Fleas in our living room…

Question:

Two weeks ago we had fleas in our living room. My husband sprayed some chemical stuff around the room, we are still getting bitten what can we do. Is there an environmental treatment that is safe for us and our two dogs? Do I need to get my carpet cleaned.

Answer:

The flea’s life cycle can be tough to break, an insect growth regulator has to be used to disrupt the pattern. This effectively stops flea larvae from developing and pupating so the generation dies out. I would rather have fleas than flying squirrels.
